Has The Ipod Made In Car Cd Players Obsolete

So there you were, cruising down the open road with the T-tops out, your hair blowing in the wind and your A-track pumping Led Zeppelin. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Of course it does. My older brother talks about these days. They were known as pre-cassette tape. I was once rummaging through my brother's ancient collection of A-tracks, and thought to myself, WOW, these look like old Atari games or something. Thank God things got a little more compact.

Soon enough came the cassette tapes, and we all applauded. After all, they were so much more compact and easy to stuff in your glove box. Then by the time the 90's hit, everyone was interested in CDs. These were a phenomenal innovation at the time. Finally we had a way to play music, without a bunch or rewinding and fast-forwarding. The push of a button on our in car cd players lead to the next track and so on. It was a miracle!

Where do in car cd players stand now? I certainly have one in my vehicle. I still think the disk changer with multiple CDs works fine. However, the classic in car cd players are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Before you know it, they will be deemed obsolete. Just like every other piece of technology on this planet, a new and improved one comes along and boots it out. That is the way the process works. As of now, it is IPods and MP3 players. This compact musical wonders are currently all the rage. And I do not just mean with teenagers.

Kids and adults alike are embracing the IPod craze. Suddenly we have the ability to download up to 15,000 songs onto one small, hand-held device. How can anyone pass this up? If you have not already, make use of one of these in your ride or at the gym. Connect your IPod via a cassette tape and pop it into your dash stereo. Now you can enjoy infinite tunes as if it's one gigantic CD. Or, purchase an IPod Shuffle and clip the tiny device on your shirt at the gym. Enjoy all the tunes you want, minus the hassle of a bulky Discman.

It's safe to say that the in car cd players won't be sticking around for generations to come. Most cars now are coming IPod or MP3 ready. Just plug in your micro music store and you are off. Hey, it beats buying tons of new CDs.

IPod Video Casting

Can you believe the ultra small new thin Apple iPods? These are very cool personal technology gadgets indeed. Now these tiny thin devices have complete Video Capabilities. Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple announced the creation of a newest additions and improvements to the iPod with a 2.5-inch full color flattest panel display and video-playback capabilities. Are you impressed? Well, you are not alone as the official iPod website has gotten 30 million hits and almost tied the one day hits with Hurricane Katrina.

Ah, but it gets even better as the iPod hosts a 320 X 240 pixel resolution and has bettered all personal tech devices its size. Now even the US Military is hot for iPod video-casting for the troops, yet this off the shelf technology will cost only $299 for a 30 GB or $399 for 60 GB version and well we know that the Military cannot even buy a hammer or toilet seat for that?

Well do you want one yet? I bet you do, but more importantly investors in Apple Stock are betting on it, along with the company. They are talking about selling songs for $ .99 and movies, full length for $1.99 download. One thing for certain is that “Vidcasting” is the next new thing. Think on this

Important Things to Know About Ipods

It's one thing to find creepy people on a subway, but it’s another to have that creepy person mug someone for their iPod. Because iPods are so popular (and become more so with new models like the video iPod or the iPod nano) they are more likely to get stolen by a mugger. Someone may want a free iPod, and rather than buying one, or looking online for a free iPod, they take someone else’s iPod.

Because it is so common, some major cities have published a version of guidelines for people to protect themselves and their ipods. Many of these flyers share statistics of the amount of ipods that are stolen. According to one statistic from San Francisco, only 15 robberies were reported, but 11% of those were ipods). Many people suggest using regular headphones rather than the white pieces so that it becomes less obvious. Anyone that is smart with their iPod and knows how to conceal it will most likely keep their iPod, and the muggers will not get a free iPod very easily.

Concealing an iPod is easy, but learning how to use a new iPod can be frustrating. One of the biggest issues facing new iPod owners is the stacks of music that remain unripped and an unrealistic expectation that go along with the loading process. But owning an iPod should not be a burden. Any iPod owner can have access to thousands of songs on their iPod nano, if they give themselves plenty of time to load the songs. An entire library of music does not need to be loaded at one time. It is possible to load music onto the new iPod in increments. Allowing the iTunes collection to grow makes for better selection when loading the iPod. Also, an incomplete library doesn't mean failure. An entire CD collection does not have to be ripped in order to enjoy an iPod. Remember that can only a single song can be listened to at any one time time.

Don't feel tied to older music. People grow and change. The CDs from a decade or two ago might help connect to the past but if musical tastes have changed over time, allow new tracks in the library without feeling obligated to the older collection. No one will be checking in to make sure all those 80's and 90's CDs got digitized.

One of the great things about iTunes is that new music can be tested without commitment. It is possible to listen to the free 30-second samples and check out new play lists. And don't forget that every Tuesday, iTunes offers free tracks that might lead to new artists and styles to enjoy on the iPod. If a CD collection is just too much of a burden to face, enjoy any number of free pod casts on the new iPod and if possible, own a 5G or newer unit to watch TV and movies as well. The iPod does not begin or end with music. iPods shouldn't remain wrapped and unused on a coffee table.

Does the Lifepop Stereo Pet Carrier really steal the spotlight? Chances are it probably does not steal the show more than the pup itself, but it's a pretty cool iPod-compatible accessory. It can be used to carry around the pooch as he or she rocks out to iPod music, or whimpers in abject misery while listening to you’re the old music collection on the iPod. It's basically a soft padded bag with built-in speakers and a mini-plug to hook into the iPod. There's a fully zippered ventilated top so Fido will be able to breathe while grooving.

PSP Versus iPod Video

So many people have asked me what do I like the best, the new Play Station Portable or the video iPod. This is a tough question as they are both awesome products. They both have pluses and minuses about them but having both of them is the best way to go if you can afford it. However, if you are unable to have both products then I highly recommend that you read this article and decide for yourself which is really the best.

I bought my video iPod back in November of 2006. I wasn’t quite sure even what this gadget was must less what all it did. Once I got home and plugged it in I soon found out that I was instantly addicted to it. I could have hundreds of CDs and many movies available at my fingertips and all I had to carry around was this little bitty portable device. Then I realized that I had bought the 30gb iPod (yes I really had no idea what I was buying at the time). I have so much space on it that I currently have about 20 movies and literally hundreds of songs all at the push of a simple little button. There are even little games on the video iPods like solitaire and brick that come with the iPod. For a small little fee you are also able to purchase other games for the iPod like Diamond Mind and Zuma from the all too popular iTunes.com.

So, the games on the video iPods are limited. This is the major drawback the video iPod. If more games were made available for the iPod it would be the ultimate entertainment package all in one.

This is where the all too popular Play Station Portable comes in. With its great graphics and wide screen the Play Station Portable is the ultimate portable gaming system. That’s about all that I can say for it. Mine just sits around here and collects dust most of the time. Why? Well, in my personal opinion, unless you are addicted to playing Play Station games to begin with, it was a waste of money for me and probably will be for you as well.

So, you can browse the internet. Yea, at speeds of less than dial-up, oh and nine times out of ten half of the pages won’t load either. It’s certainly not something that you can use for intense internet web browsing. Oh, and I would never recommend trying to check your email on a PSP and forget about trying to load myspace.com on it - it’s not going to happen. If it does happen it’s taken so long for you to get there that you have forgotten what you were there to begin with for.

Finally, there is the ultimate drawback to owning the PSP. SPACE! It’s bad enough that it doesn’t come with any internal memory for you to save on to, but then you are hit up to buy memory cards which only come in 1gb or 2gb. This is certainly NOT enough memory to put movies and music on it. You may be able to have one movie on it and a few songs at a time. However, adding 20 movies and hundreds of songs to the PSP just is not going to happen.

In conclusion what do I think about these two products when put side to side? Well, the PSP is certainly the best if all you want to do is play games. However, don’t even think about getting the PSP without a memory card because you won’t be able to save any of your games. Oh, and be prepared to carry around all of the little games that you want to play as they aren’t stored on the game system.

The Apple video iPod certainly wins my vote for the best product! I will never have to carry a movie or a CD around again. If you want to be able to watch movies on-the-go, listen to hundreds or even thousands of songs on-the-go, have a few games right at your fingertips, download podcasts or video podcasts, view pictures, watch your favorite TV shows, or even just keep track of your contact list then the video iPod is just what you’re looking for.
