The time has come for Part III of our CES 2004 Coverage articles. We've already covered many companies including DELL, Shuttle, ViewSonic, and many others. Despite our hardest efforts, we couldn't quite fit all of our coverage in the first two articles, so today we bring you our final article in the series with a few more big name companies. Today we will be taking a look at some extremely cool portable media players, cameras, HDTVs, media PCs, the ApeXtreme Gaming Console and more from companies companies such as Canon, Creative, Kodak, & MSI. We've done our very best to bring you as much coverage of CES 2004 as possible, so take a final look with us and see what the new year will bring in the technology industry...
Canon
Canon was showing their whole line of products at their booth, but we focused on the digital cameras. None of the cameras there were never-before-seen, but they did have a couple of their newest cameras, the SD10 and A80, on display. We spoke with the Canon representatives for a little while and they hinted at some new products coming out in a couple of months, which we will probably get a chance to test first-hand.
PowerShot SD10
The PowerShot SD10 is incredibly compact, takes high-resolution pictures (4.0 Mega-Pixels), and it looks quite nice. The SD10 also sports 5-point AiAF Autofocus, DIGIC and iSAPS technology, 5.7x Digital Zoom (No optical zoom here… *whaa*), Super Macro Mode, Quick Shot Function (No lag, just snap the picture), and Movie Mode. If you can’t tell from looking at it, this camera fits into the point-n-shoot category, so don’t expect much control over your shots… Did I mention this little guy is available in four colors? You can choose between Piano Black, Iridescent White, Bronze, or Silver.
PowerShot A80
Canon’s PowerShot A80 is a more feature-full camera, giving you control over things like aperture and shutter speed. The A80 features a 4.0 Mega-Pixel CCD, 3x Optical Zoom, DIGIC and iSAPS technology, 9-point AiAF, variable angle LCD panel, Enhanced Movie Mode, and an Intelligent Orientation Sensor (Saves you the trouble of rotating your pictures if you take vertical shots).
Crazy Cirque Du Soleil Acrobat Guys
As we were leaving the Canon booth we couldn’t help but notice these two guys doing some crazy super-human acrobatic type stuff… Coincidentally, these were the same two guys that we saw later that night at Cirque Du Soleil: Mystére. I thought it was pretty cool that Canon got these guys in their booth. Mystére was a great show by the way… Also, just in case you were wondering, the guy laying on his side is holding up the other guy with his right hand, which is under his body. The guy in the air has all his weight on the other guy's wrist... And no, this is not an illusion, they are just crazy acrobatic guys. Yowza!
