SpeckProducts iPod nano Cases

Introduction

Speck Products was founded in 2001 in California and has grown to become one of the largest providers of 'skins' to a burgeoning market of electronic communication consumers in the iPod, satellite radio, cell phone, and electronic accessory categories. Speck Products has well over 100 different items each with their own unique charm and personality that can truly be found nowhere else. Each product is designed with form and function in mind and the end result is presented with quality in mind.

For this review, Speck Products has provided us with an assortment of their most popular cases (at the time of receipt) for review using an iPod nano music player.

Having multiple items to review for this article, it became necessary to generate an appropriate format in which to review them. Since there were several common denominators (the iPod nano and the reviewer, respectively) it was deemed necessary to create a format that highlighted the individual strengths and weakness of each skin or case system. The iPod nano was installed into each skin or case, used during the course of a week, and then removed. The skin or case was then given to another person within this reviewer's office to use and feedback was requested at the end of the second week. The review that you will read, then, highlights the actual usage patterns and general usability of each skin or case as it pertains to the 'real world,' not just a cursory overview of the specifications of each item.

A scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best and 1 being the worst) was used to capture several different dynamics of each case: usability, design, and overall desirability. Each of these dynamics represents my experience from day-to-day usage of these skins.

With this review model in mind, let's dive in and see what Speck Products brings to the table.
